Fine Bronze Moose Sculpture One of my fondest memories is walking across a bridge over the Yellowstone River one late afternoon after the sun had gone down. A thick mist rose over the water and I found myself looking down at a very large bull moose standing in the water. He raised his head to look at me and I knew I had to sculpt this magnificent creature. The Indians of the North Country gave the moose its name many years ago. They believed that if you dream of moose often, you will live long. I have often dreamed of that site overlooking the river and consider that bull moose to be a good omen. On quiet evenings, you can see a moose or two in the water, eating the juicy pond weeds. Their huge head goes under the water. A long time passes. Then the head rises and water streams off the antlers and gushes out of a half-open mouth filled with greens. Silver droplets tinkle onto the water's surface as a long jaw chews, moving sideways. This unpredictable and massive animal deserves the title, "His Majesty". |
